Emergency Dentistry

In the event of a dental emergency, our practice will do its best to respond promptly. We can assist you with anything from a simple filling to a complicated procedure. Contact us and we will forward your message to our dentists if the problem occurs after hours.

Most of our patients need emergency dentistry after accidents or toothaches. Infections and injuries can cause toothaches. Don’t hesitate to call us if you have a toothache. We’ll get you in as soon as possible to relieve your pain.

The most critical dental emergency is a knocked-out or cracked tooth. The sooner you see a dentist after an accident, the better your chances of saving your tooth. While you wait for the dentist, you can take steps to save your tooth, such as gently placing it back in its socket (without touching the roots), keeping the tooth between your gums & lips, placing it in milk, or putting it in an ADA-approved tooth preservation kit. Visit the emergency room if your dental emergency is potentially life-threatening.

What To Do?

It doesn’t matter if you’ve never been to our office before, we’ll help you in an emergency. If you need urgent care, please contact us immediately.

Preventing Dental Emergencies

Dental emergencies can be avoided with a few precautions. Taking good care of your teeth is the most important thing. Permanent teeth are one-time only! Dental disasters can be prevented by stopping bad habits like nail-biting or chewing on inedible objects.

Dietary changes can also improve dental longevity. Your teeth will be worn down or even loosen if you eat ice or hard & sticky candy. It’s probably best to avoid foods that require extra chewing effort.

When playing sports, athletes and kids should always wear mouthguards. You can buy them at the store or from a dentist. Make sure that your athletic mouthguard fits well, so have a dentist check it out. Mouthguards can be affected by even minor teeth shifting.

Store-bought sports mouthguards aren’t always comfortable or protective. Your dentist can usually make one that’s better. You’re more likely to wear a mouthguard if it fits well! Bring your mouthguard to every dental appointment in case it needs to be adjusted.

You can save yourself a lifetime of dental visits and expenses by following these tips. During a dental emergency, we are happy to assist you, but we prefer that you avoid one in the first place.
